Job summary

Intuit’s QuickBooks Capital & Lending platform is hiring a Staff Software Engineer (Backend) to design, build, and scale online SaaS applications. You will lead a small team, mentor peers, and drive architectural decisions while spending a significant portion coding and delivering robust REST services using Java/Spring Boot on AWS, Kubernetes, Elasticsearch, and Kafka.

You’ll work with cross-functional teams, participate in agile processes, and contribute to architectural decisions,

Qualifications

• 8+ years experience designing and developing online SaaS applications (Backend).
• Strong leadership experience: leading meetings, presenting, cross-functional leader.
• BS/MS in computer science or equivalent work experience.
• Expertise with Java/J2EE, SQL, AWS and other backend development technologies.
• Experience with REST/SOAP web services.
• Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience in SDLC, TDD, and system architecture.
• Experience with on-call responsibilities and production incidents for large-scale SaaS.

Responsibilities

• Architect and develop online web applications, prototypes, or POCs.
• Gather functional requirements, develop technical specs, and plan projects and tests.
• Mentor engineers, demonstrate expertise, and lead a small team.
• Balance 40-60% hands-on coding with system design and operational excellence.
• Create technical docs and presentations to communicate options.
• Resolve defects during QA, pre-prod, production, and post-release patches.
• Coordinate with product, QA/QE, and business units to drive results.
• Champion well-architected web/mobile apps and agile methodologies.
