Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Staff Engineer for the FinHub - Ledger team within the Platform group. You will own architectural direction for core ledgering systems processing billions of transactions and drive scalable, reliable backend infrastructure across the stack.

You will lead cross-functional programs with engineering, product, and finance, establishing best practices and mentoring senior engineers. This role embraces AI responsibly and requires strong technical leadership in a remote-first

Qualifications

8+ years building and operating large-scale distributed systems in production.
Designing highly available, high-performance systems including ledgering or high-precision processing.
Lead cross-functional technical initiatives and mentor engineers.
Hands-on with Go, Kubernetes, and Postgres; anticipate scaling bottlenecks.
Use generative AI responsibly with human oversight to improve workflows.

Responsibilities

Architect and build foundational backend systems focusing on performance, scalability, and reliability across ledgering and transaction processing.
Drive strategic technical direction for cross-team initiatives spanning engineering, product, and finance.
Establish and evolve platform practices, frameworks, and architectural standards.
Provide deep technical mentorship and guide design decisions for the team.
Shape the technical roadmap with leadership to identify high-leverage investments and scaling needs.
Embed AI into engineering and operations to improve efficiency and quality.
