Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Staff Engineer for the FinHub - Ledger team within the Platform group. You will own the architectural direction of core ledgering systems handling billions of transactions, building scalable, highly available infrastructure, and driving cross-functional projects with engineering, product, and finance.

The role requires leading technical initiatives, mentoring engineers, and shaping the technical roadmap to scale systems.

Qualifications

8+ years building and operating large-scale distributed systems in production.
Backend programming with Go, Python, or Java.
Experience designing highly available, high-performance systems including ledgering or high-precision processing.
Mentor engineers and lead cross-functional initiatives.
Experience with Go, Kubernetes, and Postgres.

Responsibilities

Architect and build foundational backend systems with a focus on performance, scalability, and reliability.
Drive strategic technical direction for cross-team initiatives across engineering, product, and finance.
Establish and evolve platform best practices, frameworks, and architectural standards.
Provide deep technical mentorship and guide design decisions for senior engineers.
Shape the team's technical roadmap with leadership to anticipate scaling bottlenecks.
Embed AI into engineering and operational practices to improve systems and workflows.
