Job summary

Joby Advanced Development seeks a Staff Autonomy Systems Engineer to lead end-to-end design, integration, and verification of aerospace autonomy systems. Translate mission goals into requirements and guide cross-functional teams through V&V, interfaces, and risk management.

Ideal candidates have 10+ years in safety-critical systems engineering, MBSE and experience with DO-178C/ARP4754, and strong leadership. On-site role with competitive compensation and RSU incentives.

Qualifications

• BS in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of systems engineering experience developing safety-critical vehicles, preferably in aerospace and/or autonomy.
• Thorough understanding of systems engineering concepts and methods.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate across disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Requirements Management: Derive, allocate, and track technical requirements; develop ICDs.
• System Architecture: Define and analyze system layout; create ConOps; perform trade studies.
• Verification & Validation: Execute V&V plans and test cases to satisfy requirements.
• Risk Management: Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies.
• Technical Leadership: Lead trade studies and reviews; define milestone criteria.
• Technical Mentorship: Guide and mentor junior engineers.
