Job summary

Divergent is seeking a Staff/Principal Automation & Controls Engineer in Los Angeles to advance the Divergent Adaptive Production System (DAPS). You will design, deploy, and validate PLC, HMI, and SCADA architectures for next‑gen factory modules and mentor teammates to raise engineering standards.

This onsite role requires 7+ years in industrial automation, IEC 61131‑3, and strong electrical safety knowledge.

Qualifications

Ability to lawfully access information and technology that is subject to US export controls.
7 years of industrial automation controls experience in dynamic environments.
IEC 61131-3 Structured Text programming experience.
Industrial electrical and safety experience.

Responsibilities

Develop next generation PLC, HMI & SCADA software & controls architectures for DAPS factories and modules.
Support automation software standards, frameworks, best practices, and platform selection.
Collaborate on development and deployment of these standards, mentoring the team.
Architect new automation systems, leading design, development and commissioning of first article modules.
Develop controls systems for new processes in an R&D environment.
Understand production requirements for factory modules to improve OPE and data usage.
Work with cross‑functional teams to ensure milestones are defined, scheduled, and executed on time.
Help resolve gridlock with hands‑on leadership and execution under time constraints.
