Job summary

Axos Bank is seeking an Internal Auditor/Staff Auditor in California with CPA/CISA intent and strong SOX awareness. The role offers hands-on IA training and exposure to senior leadership. Eligible for discretionary bonuses and RSUs tied to performance. This is an opportunity to grow within a modern digital-first bank environment.

The candidate will perform audits across departments, ensure policy compliance, and contribute to process improvements while advancing toward CPA/CISA certification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, computer science, or related field.
• Plans to pursue CPA, CIA, or CISA.
• Proven ability to multi-task, prioritize workload, work independently, and meet deadlines.
• Banking or financial services experience.
• SOX experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform operational audits of various departments and products to assess compliance with policies and regulations.
• Assist with examination of Sarbanes-Oxley compliance by testing controls in key processes.
• Review or investigate issues at the request of the Board or Management.
• Consult with Management to provide guidance on improvements.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of the Internal Audit Department.
• Remain current on company policies and laws to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Identify and evaluate design and operating effectiveness of controls.
• Formalize audit observations and draft reports.
• Manage remediation of audit findings.
