Role Summary
We are seeking a DSP Engineer to join our Audio team within the Infotainment Platform group. You will help to design, develop, and optimize advanced Digital Signal Processing (DSP) algorithms and software, shaping the immersive, high-fidelity sound experience in Rivian and Volkswagen Group vehicles. If you are an Audio DSP expert with a strong background in AudioWeaver, ready to make a significant impact, we want to hear from you.
Responsibilities
- Design, Implement and Integrate DSP Algorithms: Develop and optimize audio DSP algorithms for playback (e.g., spatial audio), speech enhancement (e.g., noise/echo cancellation, beamforming), and audio post-processing. Prototype in MATLAB/Python and implement efficiently in C/C++ for embedded systems.
- System Integration: Collaborate with hardware, software, acoustics, and UX teams to integrate audio functionality seamlessly into the infotainment platform. Work with Android Audio stack components (HAL, ALSA). Interface directly with SoC vendors and DSP solution partners to drive technical requirements and resolve issues.
- Tuning & Validation: Utilize DSP Concepts' AudioWeaver extensively for audio system design, tuning, calibration, and optimization. Conduct comprehensive testing, lab/in-vehicle measurements, and troubleshoot audio DSP bugs to ensure premium sound quality and meet acoustic targets.
- Optimization & Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, optimize DSP code, and debug complex audio issues across the entire system.
- Collaboration & Documentation: Work cross-functionally, communicate technical challenges, and create clear documentation for designs, tests, and releases. Stay current with industry trends.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's in EE, CS, Audio Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years in audio software development with a strong focus on embedded systems and DSP.
- Expertise in DSP Theory: Strong foundation in filtering, FFT, adaptive filters, echo/noise cancellation, and other audio processing algorithms.
- Proficiency in C/C++: Expert-level for embedded systems, with experience in code optimization and real-time operating systems (RTOS).
- Embedded Systems Experience: Proven experience with DSPs, microcontrollers, and multi-core architectures.
- Automotive Audio Knowledge: Understanding of automotive audio architectures (e.g., A2B), multi-zone audio, and industry standards.
- AudioWeaver Proficiency: Demonstrated hands-on experience and strong proficiency with DSP Concepts' AudioWeaver platform for audio system development and tuning.
- DSP Platforms & Tools: Experience with Qualcomm Audio DSPs (Hexagon) and related tools.
- Problem-Solving: Exceptional debugging and analytical skills for complex audio interactions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Android's audio framework (Media framework, Audio HAL, ALSA).
- Experience with machine learning for audio.
- Familiarity with 3D audio and speech recognition integration.
