Job summary

Freedom of Information Commission in Hartford, CT is seeking a Staff Attorney 2 to perform advanced legal work supporting the agency’s mission to administer and enforce the Connecticut Freedom of Information Act. This full-time position requires strong legal research, writing, and advocacy in administrative and court proceedings.

Two years of legal practice experience and admission to the Connecticut bar are required. The role involves travel may be required, and adherence to ethics guidelines.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of experience in the practice of law.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform a full range of legal tasks for the agency.
• Research, interpret and apply laws and regulations related to the Connecticut Freedom of Information Act.
• Represent the agency in hearings and proceedings as needed.
• Prepare opinions, rulings, and related legal documents.
• Assist in trials and appeals and collaborate with the Office of the Attorney General as required.
