Northwestern Legal Services (NWLS) seeks two Staff Attorneys in the Erie office to provide civil legal aid to low-income clients. You will deliver legal advice, represent clients in court, and engage in community education while navigating cases across domestic violence, family, housing, benefits, and consumer law.

Ideal candidates hold a J.D., PA bar eligibility, and a strong commitment to public interest law, with experience serving low-income populations.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
• PA Bar membership or eligibility, with readiness for PA bar exam
• Ability to apply legal principles clearly to client situations
• Knowledge of issues affecting low-income communities
• Strong interpersonal, client-centered approach
• Familiarity with case management systems and office software
• Commitment to ethics and confidentiality
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills

Responsibilities

• Provide quality civil legal advice and client representation
• Handle litigation and appellate work as needed
• Create and maintain educational materials for clients and the community
• Travel to hearings, client meetings, and outreach events; attend trainings
