Job summary

Northwestern Legal Services (NWLS) is seeking Staff Attorneys in the Erie office to provide civil legal aid to low-income clients, covering domestic violence, housing, benefits, and more. Staff Attorneys will train and educate communities, handle client work, and support outreach efforts.

There is on-site work with periodic travel, mentoring, and a strong, mission-driven culture. Starting salary is $65,000–$67,000+ with a 40-hour work week and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
• Be a PA Bar member or eligible to practice law in PA.
• Ability to explain legal principles clearly to clients.
• Understanding of issues affecting low-income communities.
• Strong time management and organization.
• Ethical conduct and confidentiality standards.
• Experience with our client community is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality civil legal advice and representation.
• Maintain educational materials for clients and the community.
• Travel for hearings, client meetings, and training as needed.
• Ensure accurate time records and file maintenance.
