Job summary

We Are CASA is seeking a Staff Attorney to defend and advocate for CASA members in civil cases, including immigration, housing, employment, and civil rights. You will work with paralegals, organizers, and social service staff in a fast-paced environment, reporting to Legal Department leadership.

The role emphasizes collaboration with organizing staff, guiding Know Your Rights education, and supporting campaign efforts at local and state levels. Maryland bar eligibility or admission is required.

Qualifications

• Bar membership in Maryland or eligibility for admission.
• Juris Doctor degree and bar status or eligibility.
• 1-3 years in civil legal services is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct representation to CASA members in civil cases (immigration, housing, employment, civil rights).
• Support organizing staff with legal consultations and urgent situations (evictions, raids).
• Engage in Know Your Rights education and community workshops.
• Maintain case notes, data entry, and reporting for the Legal Department.
