Job summary

We Are CASA invites a Deputy Legal Director to join its national platform defending immigrant communities against policies and abuses. You will work with the Legal Director, supervise attorneys and staff, and lead litigation and movement campaigns to build power and deliver legal services.

The role requires significant litigation and management experience, bilingual capability, and a deep commitment to civil rights and racial justice; hybrid work options span Maryland locations and national

Qualifications

Juris Doctorate (J.D.) with a minimum of 5 years legal experience (litigation preferred).
Admitted to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction (Maryland strongly preferred; D.C., Virginia, Pennsylvania, or Georgia preferred).
Valid U.S. Driver’s License and a reliable vehicle.

Responsibilities

Oversee and mentor supervising attorneys, staff attorneys, pro bono attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants.
Strategize and lead impact litigation goals and structures.
Lead cases independently or co-counsel with partners as needed.
Cultivate relationships with external partners including pro bono attorneys.
Oversee social justice campaigns with Organizing and Advocacy departments.
Provide oversight of major aspects of the legal department.
Represent We Are CASA in local, regional, and national spaces.
Contribute to planning, reports, and staff development.
