Job summary

Disability Rights New York (DRNY) seeks a Staff Attorney for the PAIR program to provide legal services, engage in individual and systemic representation, and participate in related litigation. The role reports to PAIR and may rotate to other programs as needed.

The Staff Attorney will investigate abuse, monitor service providers for compliance, and collaborate with professionals to identify options for individuals. Travel within New York State is required as necessary.

Qualifications

• Admitted to practice in New York State in good standing.
• Minimum 3–8 years of litigation experience.
• Strong written and oral advocacy in civil rights and disability law.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal services and representation to people with disabilities to protect their rights.
• Investigate abuse/neglect and draft investigative reports.
• Monitor providers for compliance with laws and draft monitoring reports.
• Analyze cases for systemic issues and develop strategies with program leadership.
• Lead projects, committees, and outreach to foster self-determination and self-advocacy.
• Maintain confidential files and client records; track time and complete reports.
