Job summary

Disability Rights New York (DRNY) is seeking a Staff Attorney for the PAIR program to provide legal services and engage in individual and systemic representation for people with disabilities. The role reports to the PAIR program and may work across programs as needed.

Responsibilities include investigating abuse, monitoring providers, and collaborating with a range of professionals to advance disability rights. Travel within New York may be required; multilingual capabilities preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be a member in good standing of the New York State Bar.
• 3-8 years of litigation experience.
• Public interest law commitment and experience.
• Ability to work efficiently, independently, and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Multilingual skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal services and representation to people with disabilities, including individual and systemic representation and litigation.
• Investigate abuse and neglect and draft investigative reports.
• Monitor service providers for abuse, neglect, and compliance with laws and draft reports.
• Analyze cases for systemic issues and propose strategies for DRNY programs.
• Lead projects and collaborate with professionals to advance self-determination and advocacy.
