Job summary

Western Health Advantage is seeking a Staff Attorney to provide legal guidance across regulatory, privacy, employment, and contract matters. In this role, you will partner with internal teams to analyze legal issues, identify practical solutions, and proactively address risk.

This position involves drafting and reviewing contracts and notices, supporting compliance programs, and representing WHA in regulatory matters.

Qualifications

• Active membership in the California State Bar.
• Minimum of 3 years as a practicing attorney in California.
• Healthcare/managed care experience strongly preferred.
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on regulatory, business, employment, privacy, and contract matters.
• Draft, review, and revise contracts, notices, disclosures, and other legal documents.
• Support the development of strategies to identify and mitigate legal and compliance risks.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and interact with outside counsel as needed.
• Represent WHA in regulatory matters and assist with submissions.
• Participate in internal and external committees, meetings, and presentations.
• Ensure alignment with WHA’s Privacy and Information Security programs.
• Promote compliance with legal, regulatory, and internal policy requirements.
• Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in accordance with California State Bar guidelines.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

What You’ll Do

What You’ll Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline
• Active membership in the California State Bar
• 3 years of experience as a practicing attorney in the State of California preferred
• Experience in managed care, health plans, or healthcare strongly preferred
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively across teams
• Proficiency with standard business applications
