Job summary

Chapel of the Chimes Funeral Home, Memorial Park, and Crematory in Hayward, California, is seeking a Part-Time Staff Associate to join our compassionate team. You will assist funeral directors with events on-site, help maintain the facility appearance, and provide information to client families in a professional manner.

This role is ideal for mortuary students or candidates; you will be part of NorthStar Memorial Group family of properties, with strong local and regional support while focusing

Qualifications

• 1 year of customer service experience preferred.
• Ability to handle difficult situations with tact.
• Evenings and weekends availability required.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with funeral directors with events on-site, including services and arrangement conferences
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with families
• Always maintain reverence and respect for the deceased
• Assist in preparing the memorial area for the family two hours before the services start
• Ensure that flowers and other memorabilia are returned to the family after services
• Answer customer inquiries professionally, either by phone or in person
• Ensure that service vehicles are presentable prior to the service
• Assist is cleaning the memorial area after the conclusion of a service and preparing for the next ceremony being held in that area
• Assist the funeral director/arranger in charge in directing the movement of the casket, urn, immediate family members, pallbearers, and guests.
• Conduct on-site and off-site services as dictated by the business schedule

Our Staff Associates are responsible for assisting funeral directors with events, helping to maintain the facility appearance, and providing information in a compassionate and professional manner to our client families. Your work is the foundation of our ability to supply a source of support, guidance, and direction to client families before, during, and after the loss of a loved one. • Must be available to work weekdays and/or weekends. Weekend requirement includes four (4) weekend days per month.
• Must be available for evenings during the weekday and or weekend.

Compensation range of $18-$20/hour (based upon experience)
