Chapel of the Chimes Funeral Home, Memorial Park, and Crematory in Hayward, California, is seeking a Part-Time Staff Associate to assist funeral directors with events, maintain the facility appearance, and provide information compassionately to client families. This role is ideal for mortuary students or candidates.

Weekend and evening availability are required. Compensation ranges from $18 to $20 per hour, commensurate with experience.

Qualifications

• 1 year of customer service preferred.
• Experience handling difficult situations.
• Must be available to work on both weekdays and weekends; four weekend days per month.
• Evenings during weekdays or weekends may be required.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with funeral directors on on-site services and arrangement conferences.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with families.
• Maintain reverence and respect for the deceased.
• Prepare memorial area two hours before services.
• Ensure flowers and memorabilia are returned to families after services.
• Answer inquiries professionally by phone or in person.
• Ensure service vehicles are presentable prior to services.
• Clean memorial area after services and prep for next ceremony.
• Assist director/arranger with movement of casket, urn, family members, pallbearers, and guests.
• Conduct on-site and off-site services as scheduled.

Chapel of the Chimes Funeral Home, Memorial Park, and Crematory is looking for a Part-Time Staff Associate to join our team in Hayward, California, where we offer a passionate and purpose-filled work environment. Our Staff Associates are responsible for assisting funeral directors with events, helping to maintain the facility appearance, and providing information in a compassionate and professional manner to our client families. This is a great opportunity for mortuary students or mortuary student candidates! Your work is the foundation of our ability to supply a source of support, guidance, and direction to client families before, during, and after the loss of a loved one. We provide our staff with strong local, regional, and home-office support so that they focus on what matters: serving our client families.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with funeral directors with events held on-site, including services and arrangement conferences
• Establish and maintain strong business relationships with families
• Always maintain reverence and respect for the deceased
• Assist in preparing the memorial area for the family two hours before the services start
• Ensure that flowers and other memorabilia are returned to the family after services
• Answer customer inquiries professionally, either by phone or in person
• Ensure that service vehicles are presentable prior to the service
• Assist is cleaning the memorial area after the conclusion of a service and preparing for the next ceremony being held in that area
• Assist the funeral director/arranger in charge in directing the movement of the casket, urn, immediate family members, pallbearers, and guests.
• Conduct on-site and off-site services as dictated by the business schedule

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience in customer service preferred
• Experience handling difficult situations
• Must be available to work weekdays and/or weekends. Weekend requirement includes four (4) weekend days per month.
• Must be available for evenings during the weekday and or weekend.

Compensation range of $18-$20/hour (based upon experience)
