Job summary

Credo seeks a Senior or Staff System Applications Engineer to support data center products with high-speed transceiver tech. You will design hardware, validate designs, and integrate SerDes into SOCs across boards, backplanes, and optical links.

Strong Python and C skills plus a background in EE/CE are essential. BS with 5+ years or MS with 3+ years in EE/CE, plus SerDes experience, will enable you to lead cross-functional teams.

About the role

As a Senior or Staff System Applications Engineer, you would be responsible for providing support for data center related products focused on high-speed transceiver technology. This includes hardware design, product validation, python programming, and system integration of high speed Serdes (CDR) into optical modules and system on chip (SOC) products for interconnect links and a wide variety of channels on boards, in systems, over copper backplanes, and over optical fibers. Some of your responsibilities will include define and implement SERDES training algorithms over various channels and backplanes, program test scripts to automate characterization of new designs, use test equipment to measure parametric and write application notes or test reports. Base salary range is $140,000 - $210,000 a year. The base salary offer will depend on factors such as education, experience, training, skills, qualifications, and location. This position is also eligible for a discretionary bonus, equity and a full range of medical and other benefits.

Qualifications

• BS with five or more years or MS with three or more years in EE/CE, with a background in mixed-signal and DSP-based systems.
• Experience with ≥56G SerDes (112G/224G preferred) and an understanding of high-speed SerDes architectures, CDR/PLL, and equalization (FFE, CTLE, DFE); knowledge of adaptive signal processing, coding, and FEC algorithms is a strong plus.
• Experience with IEEE 802.3 compliance testing and SerDes performance characterization, including measurement of key metrics such as JTOL, BER, jitter, and PAM4 signal integrity, using high-speed test equipment (scopes, BERTs, spectrum analyzers), with good debug and data analysis skills.
• Strong Python and C programming skills to develop SerDes automation for link-up, training, and data analysis, plus a basic understanding of analog and digital circuits.
• Energetic, self-driven, team-oriented, and analytical, with strong communication, organizational, project planning, and engineering skills, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams to achieve objectives.

Responsibilities

• Regularly attend technical reviews with the design team, and participate in new product testing and Python script development.
• Debug issues onsite, with a willingness to go above and beyond to resolve high-priority issues.
• Collaborate with multiple teams and disciplines to develop test plans.
• Create customer-facing documentation, such as handbooks and application notes with reference designs.
• Define, test, and implement complex SerDes training algorithms for a multi-rack system involving a wide variety of channels on boards, in systems, over copper backplanes, and optical fibers.
