Job summary

A leading technology firm in San Jose, California, is seeking an Application Engineering Intern to collaborate with engineers on SERDES technology testing and validation. This role will involve lab testing, data analysis, and contributions to firmware improvements. The ideal candidate should be pursuing a degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering and have strong scripting skills. Competitive hourly pay of $22 is offered, with the internship expected to start in May or June.

Job description

Overview

Credo is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Application Engineering Intern to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with experienced validation, design, and firmware engineers to test and debug next-generation SERDES (Serializer/Deserializer) technology. You will contribute to post-silicon validation, lab testing, data analysis, and automation efforts to ensure the quality and performance of our chips meet design specifications. The ideal candidate will demonstrate experience with hardware bring-up and python scripting as well as the ability to provide meaningful insight with the data they have taken. More importantly, we are looking for a team player who is eager to learn and easy to communicate with.

Hourly Pay is $22.

Summer Internship will start May/June.

Responsibilities
  • Perform characterization of Credo cutting edge high-speed SERDES.
  • Perform system level validation for different applications and environment conditions.
  • Help the firmware team to improve the SERDES adaptation algorithm with lab test results.
  • Manage and resolve customer real application issues.
  • Provide/Generate application notes for Credo SERDES.
Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge in scripting (e.g. python, C, Matlab) for automation of validation efforts. Experience with system level S/W setup is a plus.
  • Experience with Lab testing and lab equipment.
  • Experience with communication protocols like I2C, I3C, SPI etc.
  • Knowledge of Digital Signal Processing and Digital Communications.
  • Strong communication, partnership and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven track record of delivering under difficult debug and validation scenarios.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Able to think outside of the box and come up with creative solutions for system validation.
  • Experience with silicon bring-up and debug.
  • Knowledgeable about and experienced with common high-speed SerDes protocols (e.g., Ethernet, PCIe, USB, DDR, etc.).
  • Knowledge in system bring-up of high-speed serial links.
  • Knowledge of SerDes design and architecture including CDR and equalization.
  • Knowledge of Tx/Rx equalization techniques and adaptation.
  • Knowledge of ADC based links and equalization techniques.
