Job summary

Motive is hiring a Staff System Software Engineer in San Francisco for on-edge IoT platforms. You will design and develop firmware and software across Linux, Android and RTOS environments, shaping next-generation hardware platforms.

You’ll work in a hybrid setting (2x in office weekly) with a strong focus on performance, testing, and cross-team collaboration to deliver scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software development experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in CS/CE/EE or equivalent.
• Experience with Kotlin, Java & C++.
• Deep experience with AOSP, Android OS and Linux.
• Embedded programming on Linux and/or RTOS.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop high-performance firmware and software for IoT platforms.
• Debug, optimize, and validate firmware on multi-core architectures.
• Develop automated and unit-level testing to validate designs.
• Contribute to architectural discussions for next-generation business logic.
• Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to design, develop and test features.
• Validate features with cloud-based analysis at scale.
