Job summary

Lyft is seeking an experienced Staff Android Engineer for the Rider App group. You will shape the architecture, guide engineers across the Rider Android team, and ship scalable features used by millions daily.

You will mentor peers, drive pixel-perfect UI, and collaborate with product, design, and other engineering teams to deliver exceptional user experiences. The role is in-office on a hybrid schedule in San Francisco.

Qualifications

• 6 years of experience as an Android developer.
• Experience leading a technical team is a bonus.
• Advanced knowledge of Java and Kotlin.
• Familiarity with RxJava.
• Very knowledgeable about architecture and design patterns.
• Worked on and shipped large scale Android applications.
• Great product sense; care about usability and good design.
• Collaborated with product managers, designers, and other engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and release features in the Lyft Rider Android app.
• Define long-term roadmap and architecture based on technology needs.
• Oversee major changes to Android architecture.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and other engineers to deliver a best-in-class UX.
• Discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to boost developer efficiency.
• Mentor and support teammates with code reviews and design feedback.
• Solve complex real-time data transfer and synchronization issues.
• Implement pixel-perfect designs with advanced interactions.
