Job summary

Intuit is seeking a Staff AI Scientist for the Lending AI team in Mountain View to advance the machine learning systems behind lending products—underwriting, pricing, and portfolio monitoring. You will own end-to-end initiatives and mentor senior scientists, delivering impactful solutions with a one-team mindset.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree or equivalent experience in a quantitative field.
• 8+ years of experience building, deploying, and leading cross-functional production ML systems.
• Proven track record of taking complex ML problems to production with measurable impact.
• Experience designing scalable data and feature platforms with versioning and reproducibility.
• Strong communication to align stakeholders and regulatory standards.
• Experience mentoring senior scientists and engineers.
• Nice to have: credit risk, underwriting policy, or loss forecasting expertise.
• Nice to have: hands-on experience with LLMs and agentic systems.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate emerging research and apply novel ML techniques to improve lending metrics.
• Lead creation and governance of reusable credit data and feature assets.
• Design auditable and reproducible AI-first lending systems and agentic workflows.
• Decide when to use LLM fine-tuning vs prompting based on quality, latency, cost, and risk.
• Architect multi-stage pipelines to streamline experiment execution and results synthesis.
• Tackle research problems in lending such as learning from censored repayment outcomes and pricing optimization.
• Establish rigorous research standards and transfer outputs to production underwriting and pricing.
• Coordinate multi-team initiatives across data, risk, and compliance.
