Job summary

Relativity, a leading legal data intelligence company, seeks a Staff AI Engineer to define the long-term vision for Relativity’s ML platform and drive production initiatives across multiple teams. You will ensure secure, reliable, and cost-effective AI capabilities while shaping architecture with performance at the forefront.

You will mentor senior engineers, collaborate with product, program, and data science leaders, and champion best practices, Sparsity, quantization, pruning, and modern ML

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• 5+ years in ML/AI or big data environments.
• 4+ years of technical leadership across multiple teams.
• Expert-level proficiency in Python, Java, or Scala.
• Hands-on with Docker, Kubernetes/Helm, and IaC tools (Terraform or Pulumi).
• Experience building ML workflows using Prefect or Airflow.
• Experience deploying secure, monitored services on AWS/Azure/GCP.
• Mentor senior engineers and drive cross-team initiatives.
• Preferred Master’s or PhD in CS/Engineering/Math.
• Open-source contributions or publications are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Define multi-year ML Ops roadmap aligned with product and research goals.
• Provide technical direction and mentorship across engineering teams.
• Design training, inference, and monitoring systems for scalability and reliability.
• Collaborate with product and data science to scope cross-functional roadmaps.
• Evaluate new ML Ops tech and set engineering standards.
• Champion optimization techniques to improve performance and cost.
• Partner with security for data protection and responsible AI.
• Lead architecture reviews and mentor engineers across the org.
