Job summary

Root Inc. is seeking a senior software leader to define technical direction for an AI-enabled platform and align multi-team initiatives. You will shape architecture, drive shared services, and enable rapid iteration while maintaining security and reliability.

You will mentor engineers, influence roadmaps, and partner with product, data, and security teams to scale the AI platform responsibly. This role supports US-wide remote work with competitive equity and bonus potential.

Qualifications

7+ years as a software engineer.
3+ years leading software teams or major initiatives.
Experience setting technical direction and delivering across multiple teams or a meaningful engineering domain.
Deep expertise in cloud infrastructure, production operations, and secure software delivery.

Responsibilities

Define technical direction for AI capabilities across the company.
Lead cross-team initiatives to design durable platform architecture and shared services.
Drive tradeoffs balancing security, reliability, observability, cost, and maintainability.
Unblock critical work across AI Platform, product engineering, data, security, and infrastructure.
Establish standards and feedback loops to monitor and improve AI-enabled systems.
