Job summary

Cloudera in Austin, TX is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the next-generation AI and MLOps platform within the Machine Learning Platform team. You will architect and deliver enterprise-grade services enabling autonomous agents and multi-agent workflows across hybrid cloud environments, collaborating with product, design, frontend, and field engineering.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 8+ years of software engineering experience building scalable backend microservices and distributed systems.
• Deep expertise in Python, Go, Java, or C#/C++, with gRPC and SQL.
• Extensive experience with Kubernetes and at least one major cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Experience with agentic frameworks and evaluation tooling (LangGraph, AutoGen, CrewAI; LangSmith/Langfuse, Phoenix).
• Proven track record of building applications using LLM orchestration paradigms and RAG architectures.

Responsibilities

• Architect and Build: design, code, and deliver scalable platform services and SDKs for autonomous agents and multi-agent collaboration.
• Implement Agentic Evaluation & Observability: pipelines for evaluating agent reasoning, tool-calling accuracy, and guardrails.
• Architect Memory Management: design memory architectures for short- and long-term context; secure cross-session state management.
• Enable RAG use cases: develop services enabling scalable retrieval-augmented generation and semantic search.
• Lead by Example: establish engineering best practices and robust design methodologies.
• Enhance Platform Velocity: improve developer velocity, framework abstraction, and platform agility.
• Collaborate Cross-Functionally: work with product, design, frontend, data science, QA, and field engineering.
