Job summary

Shield AI is seeking an experienced Staff Engineer to own major portions of the technical workload for workplace AI, including platform configuration, connectors, and observability. You will implement model and policy changes in production, ensure secure secrets handling, and drive incident response with clear post-mortems and learnings.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in platform engineering, DevOps/SRE, ML/AI ops, or technical SaaS operations with production responsibility.
• Fluent with APIs, integrations, and infrastructure-as-config concepts; comfortable in JSON/YAML and automation.
• Hands-on experience with monitoring/observability (logs, metrics, alerts) to diagnose issues.
• Experience with AI/automation platforms (LLM providers or similar) and secure secrets handling.
• Ability to document decisions clearly for technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain AI platform configurations.
• Manage connectors, integrations, and data access paths.
• Own observability wiring with logging, metrics, and alerts.
• Handle secrets and access hygiene, rotation, and reviews.
• Execute model/config changes in production with rollback plans.
• Support evaluations and benchmarking to inform governance.
• Translate technical signals into governance and risk views.
• Co-author playbooks and training materials; assist in training/office hours.
• Coordinate incidents and changes; act as technical contact during outages.
