Job summary

Shield AI is seeking a Staff Engineer, AI Engineering to translate the enterprise AI roadmap into scalable platform architecture and production-grade shared services. You will mentor engineers, define standards, and guide secure AI adoption across teams.

The role emphasizes governance, observability, cost attribution, and reusable components, partnering with product and security teams to enable enterprise-wide AI enablement.

Qualifications

• Progressive experience in enterprise software engineering and AI platform engineering.
• Deep hands-on understanding of generative AI, LLM integration, RAG, and prompt orchestration.
• Experience designing shared platform services and developer enablement platforms used by multiple teams.
• Strong architecture judgment across security, reliability, scalability, observability, maintainability, and cost tradeoffs.
• Experience with AI governance controls and compliance-aware development practices.
• Ability to influence technical direction across matrixed teams through architecture reviews and guidance.

Responsibilities

• Define enterprise AI architecture patterns for LLM integration, retrieval-augmented generation, and workflow automation.
• Create reference architectures and implementation guidance enabling consistent AI development across units.
• Lead design for shared platform services for AI observability, logging, usage metering, and lifecycle management.
• Mentor engineers and lead cross-functional technical initiatives from concept through production.
• Design dashboards and telemetry exposing adoption, risk, performance, and governance across AI systems.
