Job summary

Databricks is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to own the AI-native web platform. You will lead the platform layer—web framework, design system, CMS, infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and AI-enabled translation—while defining the north star across engineering.

You will mentor engineers, influence architectural decisions, and shape AI-native practices in production. This role requires senior hands-on experience and a strategic mindset for scalable platform engineering.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering experience with a track record of technical leadership and impact.
• 3+ years of engineering leadership experience as technical owner for systems your team builds.
• Proven track record as a technical leader of a web platform with ownership across design systems, rendering frameworks, edge delivery, CI/CD and infrastructure.
• Hands-on expertise across the full web stack including React, TypeScript, Node.js.
• Ability to make and execute multi-layer architectural decisions on a live production platform.
• Experience sequencing and executing frontend framework migrations without production disruption.
• Clear point of view on AI-native software development with a track record of progress toward it.
• Familiarity with agentic systems or LLM-powered tooling is a strong plus.
• Strong ability to influence technical leaders and drive alignment across engineering and business stakeholders.
• History of driving technical transformation with rigor and execution discipline.

Responsibilities

• Define the technical roadmap for the web platform, including component systems, rendering architecture, CMS, CI/CD pipelines, and developer tooling, AI-native from the start.
• Influence organization-wide architectural decisions and contribute to the AI-native north star for engineering at Databricks.
• Pioneer an AI-native SDLC applying agentic unlocks across code generation, testing, review, deployment, and production monitoring.
• Define evaluation frameworks, guardrails, and feedback loops for reliable agentic workflows in production.
• Mentor and grow engineers, setting the standard for AI-native thinking and execution.
