Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Staff Engineer for the AI Cloud and Developer Infrastructure team. The role emphasizes leadership across CI platforms, enabling scalable, reliable developer tooling and remote build environments.

You will mentor engineers, balance business needs with technical debt, and influence product roadmaps. The position is hybrid, requiring on-site collaboration several days per week, with opportunities to shape open-source and internal tooling for GM's AV and software

Qualifications

• 7+ years designing, building and operating production systems at scale in the cloud
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience
• Experience designing highly scalable, reliable services
• Experience writing in Go, Python, or other production-scale languages
• Understanding of Unix/Linux, SSH, and networking fundamentals
• Attention to detail and process improvement
• Ability to lead and influence others internally and externally
• Ability to communicate proposals and defend them, and handle feedback
• Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver under pressure
• Mentoring and growing junior engineers
• Passion for self-driving technology and its potential impact
