Job summary

Labelbox is hiring a Member of Technical Staff to own the design, development, and production of Frontier Data Products. You’ll build sandboxed environments for RL training, integrate with RL tooling, and collaborate with data operations to keep environments robust and observable for annotators and model agents alike.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional software engineering experience; strong fundamentals in Python and at least one systems-level language (Go, Rust, or C++)
• Experience with containerization/sandboxing (Docker/Podman/Firecracker) in production or near-production contexts
• Familiarity with RL concepts: MDPs, reward shaping, episode structure, observation/action spaces
• Experience building/deploying developer tooling, CLI tools, or infrastructure automation
• Comfort with browser automation frameworks or terminal interaction tooling
• Strong debugging skills across processes, containers, and networks
• Ability to read and implement from academic papers and open-source benchmarks

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain sandboxed RL environments for agentic AI training and evaluation
• Develop reproducible, containerized execution environments (Docker, VMs, sandboxes) for deterministic task rollouts
• Extend open-source agentic tooling and CLI/API harnesses for multi-step agent interaction
• Create instrumentation: structured logging, trajectory capture, state snapshotting for auditable data
• Collaborate with data operations to design task curricula and evaluation protocols
• Own environment deployment: CI/CD, automated testing, monitoring for drift or breakage
• Prototype new environment types quickly in response to evolving requirements
