Job summary

Rula, a remote-first mental health company in the United States, is hiring a Sr. Staff Engineer – Applied AI, Patient to help Patient Engineering build and scale AI-powered patient experiences across matching, ranking, onboarding, and personalization.

Rula is at an important stage in its ML journey, with models and pipelines in production and foundational work ahead. You’ll lead hands-on development, build reusable capabilities, and partner with the ML team on infrastructure, models, standards,

Qualifications

• 10+ years in software or ML engineering with production ML systems.
• Strong Python production coding and scalable systems experience.
• Leadership across ML lifecycle with problem framing, data engineering, model training, deployment and monitoring.
• Experience building shared ML infrastructure (feature pipelines, model serving).
• Experience with recommendation/matching/personalization systems and online/offline evaluation.
• Hands-on production experience with foundation models / GenAI.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of AI-powered patient experiences at scale.
• Develop production models and reusable capabilities for Patient Engineering.
• Collaborate with the ML team on infrastructure, models, and standards.
• Evaluate tradeoffs between custom ML, foundation models, and deterministic solutions.
• Ensure reliable, high-quality delivery of AI/ML features.
