Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Staff AI Engineer (Remote Eligible) to help build responsible AI systems for real-time banking experiences. You will work with engineers, researchers, and product managers to deploy AI software components, including foundation model training and LLM optimization, using a broad stack of AWS and open-source tools.

You will help shape the strategic vision for foundational AI systems and mentor engineering teams while delivering high-impact AI solutions at scale.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's with extensive AI/ML background and 8+ years (or 6+ with Master's).
8+ years programming experience in Python, Go, Scala, or Java.
Experience deploying scalable AI on cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
Leadership of multiple engineering teams and influence up to VP level.

Responsibilities

Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products.
Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components including model training and inference.
Leverage Open Source and SaaS AI technologies for scalable solutions.
Invent state-of-the-art LLM optimization techniques for production systems.
Contribute to long-term foundational AI system roadmap at Capital One.
