Job summary

Wingstop Restaurants Inc. is seeking a Staff Engineer, Applied AI to lead a team of AI engineers and data scientists.

You will own end-to-end delivery of AI solutions—from problem framing with business partners through deployment, monitoring, and impact measurement. You will set the technical direction for AI systems across restaurant operations, digital ordering, supply chain, and guest experience at our Dallas Global Support Center.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
• Master’s or PhD preferred
• Cloud certifications (AWS preferred) are a plus
• 10+ years in data science, ML, or applied AI engineering; leadership experience
• 3+ years managing technical teams with shipping AI to production
• Proficient in Python and modern ML stack; strong production ML experience
• Experience with LLMs, RAG, prompting, evaluation, and fine-tuning
• Experience with AWS or similar cloud platforms (SageMaker, Bedrock)

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of applied AI engineers and data scientists
• Own end-to-end delivery of AI solutions from problem framing to deployment and monitoring
• Translate operational problems into AI use cases with measurable success metrics
• Set technical standards for model development, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring
• Prioritize the AI roadmap balancing quick wins with long-term platform investments
• Partner with Data Engineering and BI to ensure data quality for production
• Establish MLOps practices, CI/CD, reproducibility, and retraining
• Govern responsible AI use: bias, privacy, and model risk
• Drive build-vs-buy decisions across LLMs, platforms, and vendors
• Communicate results and roadmap to senior leadership in business terms
• Lead proofs of concept in generative AI, forecasting, CV, and intelligent automation
