Descripción del empleo

QXO is a leading distributor and installer of building products serving an $800 billion market. The company’s mission is to modernize the building products industry through advanced technology and a best-in-class customer experience. QXO is North America’s largest distributor and installer of insulation, the second-largest distributor of roofing products, the second-largest publicly traded distributor of lumber and building materials, and the largest distributor of waterproofing products. The company is targeting $50 billion in annual revenue within the decade through accretive acquisitions and organic growth. For more information, visit QXO.com.

What you'll do:
What You'll Build On
  • Stack: Python and TypeScript with React, on Google Cloud, with a modern cloud data warehouse and AI models from multiple providers.
  • Data: transaction, pricing, customer, and operational data from the largest publicly traded distributor of roofing and waterproofing products in the United States, including the businesses it acquires.
  • Users: sales, operations, finance, and executive teams across QXO.
The Role

The Staff AI Engineer, Full-Stack shapes the product experience of QXO's data and AI platform. This role leads the application architecture and sets the engineering standards that allow teams across QXO to build on the platform, so its judgment influences how multiple teams design, build, and ship.

The role combines product judgment with deep technical ownership: what users see, how the application is structured, and how AI capabilities are presented so people can trust and act on them. It partners with business leaders on what the platform should do, and with the engineers who own the AI services on how AI appears in the product.

The Impact You'll Have
  • Define the application architecture and technical direction for the platform's user experience.
  • Create a consistent, extensible product experience that new capabilities and new teams can build on.
  • Design how AI appears in the product: showing where answers come from, communicating uncertainty, and capturing user feedback.
  • Expand the platform's adoption and usefulness across sales, operations, and finance, guided by how people use it.
  • Raise the engineering bar across teams through design reviews, code reviews, and mentoring
What you'll bring:
  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, including demonstrated experience delivering full-stack products.
  • Experience leading the architecture of a system or platform that other teams built on.
  • Strong TypeScript and React, and proficiency building backend services in Python.
  • Experience shipping features built on large language models to production users.
  • Experience building agentic workflows using frameworks such as LangChain and LangGraph.
  • Experience evaluating agentic solutions through both offline testing and online production measurement.
  • Experience building data-intensive products such as analytics applications, dashboards, or data exploration tools.
  • Ability to work directly with business leaders and translate their needs into products they adopt.
  • Demonstrated, effective use of AI-assisted development tools, with accountability for the quality of their output.
  • A degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Nice to Have
  • Experience with data visualization and design systems.
  • Experience with a cloud data warehouse or a semantic layer.
  • Experience developing guardrails for LLM-based applications.
  • Background in distribution, supply chain, or another B2B business.
What you'll earn
  • Base pay range: $160,000 - $288,000
  • Annual performance bonus
  • Long term incentive (equity/stock)
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • PTO, company holidays, and parental leave
  • Paid Time Off/Paid Sick Leave: Applicants can expect to accrue 15 days of paid time off during their first year (4.62 hours for every 80 hours worked) and increased accruals after five years of service.
  • Paid training and certifications
  • Legal assistance and identity protection
  • Pet insurance
  • Employee assistance program (EAP)
