Innovaccer is seeking a Staff AI Engineer in San Francisco to design and build the most critical backend components, data pipelines, and AI-powered features. You will own end-to-end systems, guide architecture, and mentor engineers, delivering scalable healthcare solutions with HIPAA/GDPR compliance.

You will work closely with product, clinical, and engineering peers to turn ambitious goals into robust software that ships, while operating at Principal scope with hands-on leadership.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience building and shipping large-scale production systems.
• Deep hands-on coding in one or more modern languages (Python, Java, Go).
• Strong design skills across distributed systems, APIs, and data-intensive architectures.
• Experience integrating AI/ML into products and operating them in production.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD, IaC, monitoring, and incident response.
• Familiarity with healthcare data standards (HIPAA, GDPR) or ability to ramp quickly.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, aligning engineers and stakeholders.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization/orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).

Responsabilités

• Design, build, and ship complex backend components, APIs, and data pipelines with production-grade quality.
• Lead end-to-end AI/ML feature integration from model to production systems.
• Own technical architecture for major systems including scalability, performance, and security.
• Promote engineering best practices across the SDLC through code reviews and mentoring.
• Build resilient services that integrate with other products and external healthcare systems.
• Ensure compliance with healthcare and data-protection requirements (HIPAA, GDPR).
• Debug, profile, and harden production systems and manage incident response.
• Provide hands-on mentoring to senior staff through design reviews and pairing.
• Collaborate with product and clinical teams to translate needs into solid designs.
• Evaluate technologies and tooling balancing capability, cost, risk, and value.
