Job summary

The American Academy of Actuaries is seeking a Staff Actuary to support public policy and professionalism initiatives in the United States. You will provide actuarial analysis, interpret strategic priorities, engage with regulators, and build partnerships with peer and stakeholder organizations.

You will lead cross‑practice projects on topics such as climate risk, cyber insurance, data science, and professional standards, coordinating with staff and volunteers to advance policy goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics or related field.
• ASA or ACAS certification required.
• 7-10 years actuarial experience or equivalent.
• Experience in property/casualty insurance, financial services, or risk management.
• Experience engaging with regulators and legislative stakeholders preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support public policy and professionalism teams with stakeholder relationships.
• Deliver public policy work products and outreach initiatives.
• Represent the Academy at public forums and within the actuarial community.
• Develop work products with identified stakeholders to drive policy work.
• Contribute to research on actuarial and risk topics.
• Lead projects and participate in priority cross-practice issues.
• Travel up to 15% domestically for external presentations.
