Health Care Service Corporation (HCSC) is seeking an actuary to participate in the implementation, maintenance and basic analysis of models and systems that use actuarial principles for pricing, underwriting, statistics, reserving and forecasting.

Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science or related field, ASA/MAAA, and at least 3 years of actuarial experience, plus strong verbal and written communication and proficiency with Word and Excel. SQL/SAS/R skills are a plus.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for participating in implementation, maintenance and basic analysis of models, studies and systems which use actuarial principles for the purposes of pricing, underwriting, statistics, reserving, forecasting and other actuarial functions; running, building and analyzing results of basic models; developing oral and written presentation skills; and learning basic business and actuarial concepts.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or Economics. Other Bachelor (or higher) Degrees may be considered.
• Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) and Membership in the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA).
• At least 3 years of actuarial experience.
• Verbal and written communications skills to prepare effective documentation, facilitate training and development, and participate in presentations.
• PC proficiency to include Word and Excel.

Preferred Requirements

• Pharmacy actuarial experience preferred
• Health insurance/managed care experience preferred
• SQL experience preferred
• SAS, R, or other programming experience
• Strong analytical and data modeling skills
• Advanced Excel and PowerPoint proficiency
• Experience analyzing large healthcare datasets

This is a Flex (Hybrid) role: 3 days in office; 2 days remote.

The compensation offered will vary depending on your job-related skills, education, knowledge, and experience. This role aligns with an annual incentive bonus plan subject to the terms and the conditions of the plan.

Flex employees are expected to be in the office a minimum of three days a week. Management will have discretion to modify an employee's weekly schedule for exigent circumstances.

Base Pay Range

$92,700.00 - $167,500.00
