Job summary

Express Employment Professionals is seeking an experienced Staff Accountant for a local accounting firm. The role works under supervision and focuses on tax returns and bookkeeping.

You will discuss financial matters with clients, prepare complex tax returns or special projects, and perform journal entries as needed. A degree in accounting and strong tax knowledge are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent required.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state taxation.
• Experience reviewing tax returns.

Responsibilities

• Prepare complex tax returns and special projects as needed.
• Administrative duties such as maintaining schedules, providing telephone support, production and filing of forms.
• Interacting with clients to discuss their financial matters, such as discussions regarding information needed to prepare the tax returns or financial statements as deemed appropriate by their supervisor.
• General bookkeeping needs including preparing journal entries for clients.
• Understanding and use of tax software, electronic filing system, analytical/data mining software and other software as deemed appropriate by their supervisor.
