Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly / quarterly US state and local returns for sales / use, gross receipts, corporate activity, etc.
• Prepare annual tangible personal property tax returns
• Maintain company business licenses including renewals of existing licenses and new applications as needed
• Review / maintain tax calendar and ensure that deadlines are met, including jurisdictional compliance when the Company enters and / or leaves jurisdictions.
• Review, research and respond to correspondence from state and local taxing authorities
• Assist Corporate Tax Manager with preparation of tax basis income projections for US legal entities
• Assist Corporate Tax Manager with tax planning strategies to minimize tax liabilities for US legal entities
• Ensure quarterly estimated tax payments, and extensions, are remitted timely
• Assist Corporate Tax Manager with preparation of various tax schedules required for year-end tax return preparation by external preparer
• Ensure accuracy of tax related financial transactions
• Take the initiative for ongoing professional development and assist with implementation of internal policy changes related to changes in tax rules / regulations
• Special projects and other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent experience
• 5 – 7 years’ experience with multi-state, multi-company and multi-currency corporate taxation in a professional services firm, preferably in an Architectural / Engineering or Construction company or Public Accounting Experience
• 3 – 5 years’ experience preparing state and local tax returns
• Strong technical corporate tax background
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to interact effectively with all levels
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize
• Team player and have ability to work independently
• Strong Excel (intermediate to advanced) and reporting analysis skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience with ERP systems
