Job summary

URBN Urban Outfitters, Inc. is seeking a Staff Accountant to support monthly closes and financial reporting across brand partners and shared services. The role focuses on accuracy, timely deliverables, and process improvements.

The ideal candidate has 1–2 years in accounting, a Finance/Accounting degree, strong Excel skills, and familiarity with Oracle/Hyperion. Retail/apparel experience is preferred, with opportunities for growth and collaboration.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of work experience in accounting, finance, or business analysis.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
• Retail or apparel industry experience preferred.
• Proficient in MS Excel and able to learn accounting software.
• Knowledge of Oracle and/or Hyperion is a strong plus.
• Ability to comprehend and analyze financial statements and reports.

Responsibilities

• Assist in monthly financial statements/packages and internal reporting documents.
• Record, reconcile, and analyze monthly activity in income statements.
• Prepare and maintain balance sheet account reconciliations.
• Prepare and maintain expense trackers for operational departments.
• Analyze results, explain variances vs budget and prior year.
• Recommend and implement improvements to methodologies and practices.
• Support monthly and quarterly financial close processes.
• Provide accounting/finance support to brand partners as liaison to shared services.
• Review management/operating reports to identify trends and benchmarking metrics.
• Collaborate with brand finance on related projects.
