Job summary

SkyVest Renewables in Houston, TX is seeking a Staff Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations with a focus on month-end close. The role reports to the Director of Accounting and offers exposure to a growing renewable energy platform.

The Staff Accountant will post journal entries, perform reconciliations, assist with accruals, and help prepare schedules for audits and tax filings while maintaining accurate documentation and collaborating across the Accounting team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of professional accounting experience (may include internships).
• Working knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with an ERP/accounting software, Sage Intacct is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries and supporting schedules for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
• Perform general ledger account reconciliations, researching and resolving discrepancies.
• Assist in preparing accrual entries and other month-end adjustments.
• Support timely completion of the monthly close checklist and maintain supporting documentation.
• Assist with entering operating and project-level cost data.
• Support accounts payable and cash activity related to vendor invoices, payments, approvals, and bank reconciliations.
• Assist in maintaining fixed asset and depreciation ledgers, including additions and disposals.
• Help gather documentation for audits and tax filings and respond to data requests.
• Support ad hoc data pulls, filings, and reports for close processes.
