Job summary

Milwaukee Succeeds is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant in Milwaukee, WI to support daily accounting operations. The role covers accounts payable, accounts receivable, month-end close, reconciliations, and fixed assets. The position is full-time with the option to work remotely 2 days a week after six months of training.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years of accounting experience.
• Proficiency with accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and month-end close activities.
• Experience with SAP or another ERP system.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Process accounts payable, including coding, entering, and reviewing vendor invoices.
• Generate vendor payments through check runs, ACH transactions, and manual payments.
• Reconcile accounts payable and general ledger accounts.
• Prepare account reconciliations and assist with monthly and year-end closing activities.
• Post journal entries, accruals, estimates, and other financial transactions.
• Manage employee travel and expense reporting.
• Maintain fixed asset records and accounting documentation.
• Post cash receipts and apply payments to customer accounts.
• Monitor customer accounts and assist with collections on past-due balances.
• Prepare and file sales and use tax, property tax, and 1099 reporting.
• Prepare cash flow reporting and other financial analyses.
