What You Will Do

This position involves full-service accounting for eXp Puerto Rico, with financial oversight and support for eXp Dominican Republic. Responsibilities include managing general ledger processes, accounts receivable and payable, accruals, and regulatory reporting to ensure compliance with Puerto Rican tax laws and support financial activities in the Dominican Republic.

You will ensure timely and accurate recording of transactions and month-end procedures, collaborating with the GL, Finance, and Accounting teams to improve workflows. The role requires problem-solving, project management, and leading process improvements in a fast-growing environment.

The Staff Accountant will support daily financial operations, reporting, and compliance. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and able to work independently under tight deadlines. Strong communication skills are essential for collaborating with cross-functional teams, external auditors, and regulatory bodies.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Assist with daily financial operations, including general ledger activities, invoicing, payments, receipts, and cash applications.
  2. Support monthly and quarterly financial close processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Puerto Rican and U.S. GAAP.
  3. Perform reconciliations, including bank and ledger account reviews.
  4. Prepare accurate financial statements and internal reports timely.
  5. Collaborate with finance and transaction teams on property-related financial activities.
  6. Monitor and ensure compliance with Puerto Rican tax regulations, including Income Tax (Hacienda PR), Sales and Use Tax (IVU), Municipal Taxes, Withholding Taxes, and Form 480.
  7. Support compliance with Dominican Republic tax regulations (DGII) where applicable.
  8. Assist in audit processes by preparing documentation and responding to inquiries.
  9. Contribute to process improvements and automation initiatives for efficiency and accuracy.
  10. Maintain internal controls and adherence to financial policies.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  1. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  2. 3–5 years of experience in financial operations or accounting.
  3. Strong experience in general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and monthly closings.
  4. Experience with revenue accounting is a plus.
  5. Knowledge of Puerto Rican tax reporting and compliance.
  6. Experience with Dominican Republic tax reporting (DGII) is a plus.
  7. Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, financial modeling).
  8. Experience with ERP systems like Oracle Fusion preferred.
  9. Experience in real estate industry is a plus.
