What You Will Do

This position involves full-service accounting for eXp Puerto Rico, with financial oversight and support for eXp Dominican Republic. Responsibilities include managing general ledger processes, accounts receivable/payable, accruals, and regulatory reporting, ensuring compliance with Puerto Rican tax laws and supporting financial activities in the Dominican Republic.

You will ensure timely and accurate recording of transactions and month-end closing procedures, working closely with the GL Team, Finance, and Accounting Departments to improve workflows. The role requires strong problem-solving, project management skills, and the ability to lead process improvements in a growing environment.

The Staff Accountant will support daily financial operations, reporting, and compliance. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and able to work independently under tight deadlines. Excellent communication skills are essential for collaboration with cross-functional teams, external auditors, and regulators.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with daily financial operations, including ledger activity, invoicing, payments, receipts, and cash applications.
  • Support monthly and quarterly financial close processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Puerto Rican and U.S. GAAP.
  • Perform reconciliations, including bank and ledger account reviews.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and internal reports.
  • Collaborate on property transaction processing with finance and transaction teams.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with Puerto Rican tax regulations such as Income Tax, Sales and Use Tax (IVU), Municipal Taxes, Withholding Taxes, and Form 480 declarations.
  • Support compliance with Dominican Republic tax regulations (DGII) where applicable.
  • Assist in audit preparations and respond to inquiries.
  • Contribute to process improvements and automation initiatives for efficiency and accuracy.
  • Maintain internal controls and ensure adherence to policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in financial operations or analysis.
  • Proficiency in general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and month-end closings.
  • Experience with revenue accounting is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Puerto Rican tax reporting and compliance; Dominican Republic experience is a plus.
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, modeling).
  • ERP system experience (Oracle Fusion or similar) preferred.
  • Experience in the real estate industry is a plus.
