Job summary

The Axel Group is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our client's team in the architecture and planning industry. You will support a range of accounting and financial operations, including billing, project accounting, payroll, benefits and HR functions to ensure smooth operations.

Key responsibilities include month-end close support, client invoicing for fixed-fee, hourly and percentage-of-completion contracts, and collaboration with Project Managers to ensure timely billing and accurate project

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field preferred.
• 2–5 years of accounting experience, preferably including billing, payroll and project accounting.
• Experience in architecture, engineering, construction, consulting or other professional services environments is a plus.
• Familiarity with Unanet or similar project-based accounting software highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash application and GL reconciliations.
• Prepare client statements and complete bank reconciliations.
• Support month-end close activities and journal entries; assist with financial report prep.
• Maintain and improve accounting processes and system workflows.
