Job summary

New Orleans Restoration Properties (NORP) is hiring a Staff Accountant - Financial Operations to own daily financial operations under the guidance of our Fractional CFO. This role offers hands-on exposure to real estate development finance, compliance, and strategic decision-making while providing a clear path toward a Controller position.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of accounting, bookkeeping, or related financial experience.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field.
• Solid GAAP knowledge and general ledger accounting.
• Strong Excel skills and comfort with ERP software.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; highly organized.
• Growth mindset with a pathway toward a Controller role.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
• Support month-end and year-end close processes under the Fractional CFO.
• Assist in preparing financial statements, reports, and schedules for internal and external stakeholders.
• Maintain audit-ready financial records and support LIHTC/HTC compliance documentation.
• Identify opportunities to streamline, automate, and modernize accounting workflows.
• Support budgeting, cash flow tracking, and day-to-day banking administration.
• Help document and strengthen internal controls and ensure adherence to financial policies.
• Coordinate with partners on financial data requests; support audits, tax preparation, and filings.
