Job summary

Hope in Springfield, IL is seeking a Staff Accountant to support the Finance department by maintaining the integrity of the general ledger and driving process efficiency. The role involves month-end close support, supervising or handling advanced AP functions, and partnering with leadership to modernize accounting workflows using Microsoft Business Central.

Required is a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, 1–3 years of experience in reconciliations and general ledger maintenance, and

Qualifications

• GAAP knowledge with nonprofit/healthcare accounting is a plus.
• Strong Excel skills including VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP and pivot tables.
• Analytical thinker able to spot trends and reconcile discrepancies.
• Experience with modern ERP systems, preferably Microsoft Business Central.

Responsibilities

• Assist month-end close by posting journal entries and managing accruals.
• Perform regular monthly reconciliations of bank, credit card, and balance sheet accounts.
• Evaluate and implement modern, scalable workflows to speed operations.
• Oversee complex accounts payable and ensure 1099 compliance.
• Maintain audit-ready documentation for balance sheet adjustments.
