Venturity is partnering with one of our clients to hire a proactive and detailed Staff Accountant– Inventory & Operations to support the day-to-day accounting activities of for their Distribution and Rental business. This role serves as a key link between Accounting and Operations, ensuring inventory, purchasing, and revenue transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled.
The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and enjoys solving problems, researching discrepancies, and collaborating across departments to improve processes and ensure financial accuracy.

Position Summary
The Staff Accountant – Inventory & Operations is responsible for inventory reconciliations, purchase order administration, customer invoicing support, gross profit analysis, account reconciliations, and month-end close activities. This position works closely with Distribution Operations, Rental Operations, Purchasing, and Corporate Accounting to ensure financial information is complete, accurate, and timely.
This role offers excellent exposure to operational accounting, inventory management, financial analysis, and process improvement, providing strong opportunities for professional growth within the accounting and finance organization.

Key Responsibilities:
Inventory Accounting & Reconciliations
- Reconcile Distribution and Rental inventory between Point of Rental (POR) and QuickBooks Enterprise.
- Research and resolve inventory discrepancies by partnering with Operations, Purchasing, and Accounting teams.
- Maintain inventory reconciliation schedules and supporting documentation.
- Support physical inventory counts, cycle counts, inventory adjustments, and related reporting.
- Analyze inventory transactions and identify root causes of variances or inaccuracies.
- Ensure all inventory reconciliations are completed in accordance with the monthly close calendar.
Purchasing & Vendor Transactions
- Create and maintain Distribution purchase orders.
- Monitor open purchase orders and follow up on outstanding transactions.
- Assist with resolving purchasing, receiving, coding, documentation, and vendor discrepancies.
- Maintain supporting records to ensure accurate inventory and purchasing activity.
Revenue & Margin Analysis
- Support the Distribution administrative team with customer invoicing.
- Ensure invoices are accurately and timely recorded within company systems.
- Research and resolve missing, duplicate, or incorrectly recorded transactions.
- Analyze gross profit and cost of goods sold activity.
- Investigate unusual revenue, cost, or margin variances and provide supporting analysis.
Month-End Close & Financial Reporting
- Prepare journal entries and supporting schedules.
- Complete account reconciliations and maintain supporting documentation.
- Assist in the timely completion of month-end close activities.
- Ensure transactions are recorded accurately and within the appropriate accounting period.
- Support management reporting and financial analysis as assigned.
Internal Controls & Process Improvement
- Support company internal controls by ensuring transactions are properly documented, approved, and recorded.
- Assist with documenting accounting procedures and maintaining process documentation.
- Identify opportunities to improve the accuracy, efficiency, and effectiveness of recurring accounting processes.
- Participate in system enhancements and process improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with operational and accounting teams to strengthen workflows and reduce recurring discrepancies.
What Success Looks Like:
Within the first 6-12 months, the successful candidate will:
- Consistently complete inventory reconciliations accurately and on time.
- Meet monthly close deadlines and maintain quality supporting documentation.
- Reduce unresolved inventory and transaction discrepancies.
- Strengthen relationships with Operations, Rental, Purchasing, and Accounting teams.
- Identify and implement process improvements that improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Contribute to enhanced financial reporting reliability and operational decision-making.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field; equivalent accounting experience may be considered.
- Minimum of two years of accounting experience.
- Experience preparing account reconciliations and journal entries.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Preferred:
- Experience with inventory accounting or inventory reconciliations.
- Experience in distribution, equipment rental, wholesale, manufacturing, logistics, or other inventory-intensive environments.
- Experience with purchasing and purchase order processes.
- Experience supporting month-end close activities.
- Experience working within multiple accounting or operational systems.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Working knowledge of general ledger accounting, inventory accounting, and cost accounting concepts.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to research discrepancies, identify root causes, and recommend solutions.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, filtering, and reconciliation analysis.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Ability to work independently while recognizing when issues should be escalated.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with both accounting and operational teams.
- Adaptability and willingness to learn new systems and processes.

Systems Experience Preferred:
- QuickBooks Enterprise
- Point of Rental (POR) or similar inventory/rental systems
- Stampli
- Microsoft Excel
- Intuit Enterprise Suite
Experience with other accounting, ERP, inventory management, or purchasing platforms will also be considered.
