Job summary

Atlantic Forklift Services is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support day-to-day accounting across our growing dealership network. You will assist with AP/AR, reconciliations, month-end close, and asset management under the supervision of the Controller.

The ideal candidate has 2–4 years of accounting experience, proficiency with Excel and ERP/accounting software, and the ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while ensuring GAAP compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • 2–4 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience.
  • Working knowledge of general ledger, AP/AR, and reconciliations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform full cycle accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
  • Provide month-end close support.
  • Assist with fleet management activities including registrations and reconcilement of maintenance and repair expenses.
  • Assist with preparation of weekly/monthly cash flow reports.
  • Assist with tracking asset additions and disposals and depreciation reconcilements.
  • Assist with sales tax filings across multiple states while maintaining supporting documentation for compliance and audits.
  • Assist with expense reconcilement and data analysis.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned to support/collaborate with administrative and operational teams.
  • Ensure all accounting activities are performed in accordance with GAAP.
  • Assist with internal and external audit preparation, including providing supporting documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
  • Occasional travel to branch locations may be required.
  • Experience with intercompany transactions and multi-entity accounting preferred.

Job Purpose:

The Staff Accountant supports the Controller in the execution of day-to-day accounting functions across the business. This role provides support across accounts receivable, accounts payable, reconciliations, asset management and month-end close processes.

Key Responsibilities:

Education & Experience

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, proficiency in MS Excel, Google Chrome, and accounting software packages; experience with ERP systems a plus.
