About this Role:
The Staff Accountant is responsible for performing routine accounting tasks, including maintaining financial records, preparing journal entries, reconciling bank statements, assisting with month-end close processes, and generating financial reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) while supporting the overall financial health of the organization.
Responsibilities
- Participate in month-end close processes, prepare monthly journal entries, and analyze and reconcile certain asset and liability accounts
- Provide (and maintain) support for financial audits and tax filings
- Partner-cross functionality to ensure the timely and accurate accounting for transactions and improvement to close processes
- Maintain all Accounts Payable files, including filing invoices in designated areas
- Prepare Accounts Payable checks according to company procedures
- Respond to all Accounts Payable inquires in a prompt manner
- Match Purchase Orders with correlating vendor to ensure accuracy and prepare for system entry, daily
- Post invoice payments
- Release customer invoices into system and send to customers
- Review Service Department transmittal batch for Accounts Receivable
- Post and review credit card payments and receipts
- Assist Controller with Accounts Receivable analysis including but not limited to daily deposit, applying customer payments, and analyzing status of accounts
- Customer facing interactions as needed
- Any other duties as supervisor, the President and CEO may require
Competencies & Skills
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and organize efficiently
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office needed
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary
- Ability to read, write and speak fluent English, non-negotiable
- Ability to listen, understand, and follow directions accurately and completely as needed
- Communication and teamwork skills with a positive demeanor is required
- Must be willing to learn new technologies and be self-motivated to increase knowledge
- Strong work ethics are a must
- Must hold and maintain a valid driver’s license with clean driving record and be willing to furnish proof of private insurance at any time upon company request
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (standing and walking for prolonged periods of time, lifting heavy loads of up to 25 pounds, etc.) with or without reasonable accommodation is required
- Company hours of 8:00am-5:00pm, Monday to Friday
- Sit for prolonged periods while working at a computer
Education And Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent, required
- BS in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience
- 2+ years of experience in accounting, highly preferred
- Knowledge of Acumatica, preferred
